Southern University Alumni Home Chapter is hosting its 7th annual Crawfish Boil and Music Festival

The Southern University Alumni Home Chapter is hosting their 7th annual Crawfish Boil and Music Festival. This event creates an excellent opportunity for companies and organizations to receive recognition among alumni, friends, supporters, and students of Southern University A&M College.

The Crawfish Boil and Music Festival will be held at the Greenwood Community BREC Park (13350 Hwy. 19, Baker, LA 70714), on Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM. 

The Southern University Alumni Home Chapter Crawfish Boil & Music Festival is open to the general public. Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $35 the day of the event. The Crawfish Boil will be an afternoon of music, food, fun, canoeing, trail walks, and prizes. Home Chapter President Michelle Jones said, “we expect at least 1200 attendees this year due to the increase in our marketing promotions, (i.e. T.V. commercials and radio announcements). 

Jones also stated, “the Chapter’s goal is to raise money to send deserving students from our community to Southern University, assist current students, and build our alumni base. Our overhead has increased dramatically for crawfish, fish, the facility, event promotions, as well as, securing talented musicians. Therefore, we welcome all donations you would like to make in advance or on the day of the event. “

There will be a cook-off judged by some leaders from around Baton Rouge. The judges for the Home Chapter Cook-Off are, Chauna Banks-Council Woman of District 2, Gary Chambers, publisher of The Rouge Collection, Mike Edwards — Director of Aviation of the Baton Rouge Airport, Cleo Fields-Louisiana Leadership Institute, Bishop Raymond Johnson-Living Faith Christian Center, Darlene Reese-Ambassador Mortgage, Matt Valliere-CEO of Care South, and Howard White-Top Choice. Live entertainment will be provided by, Tyree Neal, The Michael Foster Project, The Southern University Human Jukebox Beat The Streets Drumline, and DJ-”MJ Moore.
